Why Bravewired Exists

My name is Pauline. I am a pediatrics occupational therapist, and over the past decade my practice has been shaped by experience, further training, and many humbling moments across therapy rooms, schools, and family homes.

Bravewired was born in a season of personal realignment.

It arose during a time of heartbreak and deep reflection, but it was catalysed by love. Love for the work I do. Love for children and families navigating complex developmental journeys. Love for a way of practising that feels aligned and integrated.

That season required me to examine who I was, what I valued, and how I wanted to show up. Not just personally, but professionally.

As I reflected, I realised my practice had already been shifting. I was less concerned about how sessions appeared and more focused on whether they were aligned with the child’s nervous system and developmental capacity. I was thinking more about regulation, connection, and sustainability across the different environments I work in.

I needed language for the philosophy underneath my work.

Bravewired became that language.

At its core, Bravewired reflects how I practise.

It is brain-based in understanding developmental readiness and regulation.

It is heart-led in centering connection and co-regulation.

It is community-rooted in recognising that growth happens within families, schools, culture, and context.

Bravewired helps me stay anchored to these values, especially in moments where practice can feel rushed, performative, or outcome-driven.

My hope is that it can also offer language and clarity to other therapists who are seeking depth and sustainability in their work.

More importantly, Bravewired exists in service of the children and families we work with. It supports practice that respects the child’s pace, honours their nervous system, and prioritises meaningful, lasting growth.

For me, Bravewired is not a program. It is a commitment to practise in a way that feels aligned, integrated, and steady.
